Making a difference

Who Are We?

The Older Women’s Network Sydney was formed in November 2001 following the establishment of the Older Women’s Network NSW as the peak body for groups in NSW.

We are managed by a Working Group which meets bi-monthly to develop and support an environment in which the social, political and friendship needs of older women are met.

Our goals, as a self-help group run by volunteers, are to promote enrichment, mutual support and companionship/friendship amongst older women; challenge negative attitudes about ageing; promote healthy ageing which includes social intellectual, physical and emotional factors and influence the outcome of policy decisions affecting our lives.

We offer a wide range of interest groups and activities designed by and for older women, including:

  • Workshops, seminars and training
  • Interest groups
  • Discussion groups
  • Social events
  • Physical activities

Through our energy, competence and wisdom – and our readiness for fun – OWN Sydney can make a difference socially, politically and in our OWN lives!
