Northside Wellness Centre

embracing all of the opportunities that life has to offer

Who Are We?

OWN Northside Wellness Centre began in 1996 after applying successfully to Willoughby Council for a community grant.

This allowed us to establish a Feldenkrais class for around 30 older women.

Feldenkrais is an exercise methodology that retrains the body to consciously move in ways that increase flexibility and strength, while decreasing pain originating from injuries brought about by misuse, overuse and strain.

The technique proved extremely popular with OWN Members. They were keen to experiment with other forms of exercise, and before long, Qi Gong was launched.

Qi Gong is a traditional Chinese martial art that incorporates meditation, breath control and movement exercises to achieve focus and relaxation.

OWN Northside Wellness Centre also believes that your physical and mental health are supported by a strong, creative and active community.

Members are encouraged to attend discussion groups and social activities to stay informed of their rights, and to ensure they maintain connections with their support networks.

Some women form smaller groups to go to movies or exhibitions. Others participate in targeted voluntary activities, like making breast care cushions for cancer survivors with the Zonta Club.
