Who Are We?
We began in 2010. We felt that there was the need for a new group to support older women in the Gosford shire and are based at the southern end of the Central Coast in New South Wales. We welcome women from all cultures and backgrounds who identify as older women.
We meet on the 3rd Friday of the month, and from January 2016 the meetings will be held at the Wyoming Community Centre at 147 Maidens Brush Road, Wyoming, between 10.00 and 12 noon. There are public buses nearby and plenty of parking.
We have a three monthly programme consisting of a guest speaker on the first month, an outing on the second month and a general discussion of issues affecting the members on the third month. At every meeting members are encouraged to bring details of community events or activities they are interested in to share with the group, plus we have a great morning tea!
Come and meet our members and enjoy the program of activities, including:
- Discussions
- Guest Speakers
- Community action
- Social outings
Occasional joint meetings are held with neighbouring groups, and members have the opportunity to attend Sydney conferences, courses and events.
Brisbane Water OWN provides an opportunity for older women to enjoy friendship, share information and community news, and raise awareness of women’s issues and concerns particularly with regard to health, housing and other social issues. We also support the social engagement of older women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds by networking and participating in cross cultural programs and events.
We welcome new members and invite you to join us.
