We offer:

  • Gentle Exercise
  • Morning Teas
  • Discussion Groups
  • Folk Dancing
  • Social Groups
  • Bus Trips
  • Opportunities for volunteers

You will find us most Mondays of the year, starting at 9.30am. The first hour we warm up with a gentle exercise session, followed by a break, where members share a morning tea of mostly home-made goodies that they each contribute.

We then have announcements and discussion, followed by traditional Folk Dancing practice.  Our folk dancing group performs at local community festivities, to senior groups and aged care facilities, to entertain the citizens.

Throughout the year we invite guest speakers to inform us of policies and to offer their expertise and advice on various health topics, environmental issues or other social topics-such as wellness and quality of life.

Bankstown Greek OWN is the place to come and socialise, to make and meet new friends, to celebrate Greek culture, to learn and be informed of topics of interest.

We also plan occasional Bus trips as a group.  We have been to the Bowral/Mittagong during the Spring Tulip festival, in summer we went to Avoca beach and there were also train trips to Cronulla.

Some of our members also organise amongst themselves regular lunch outings or trips to the movies and theatre.

Bankstown Greek OWN actively participates and donates to various charities. Pink Ribbon day in October is the biggest of these events for our group.  Last October we collected and donated $4,200 towards the cause for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

All of our work is undertaken by volunteers drawn from our membership, and we are always looking for enthusiastic, Greek speaking, older women to assist in the management of our organisation.

The friends you make at Bankstown Greek OWN will be friends for life.
